Australia, for a Nation it's size,
has increasing been involved in peace keeping missions
from the first 'police action' in the 1950's (the
Korean War) right through to Australia leading the
Multi national force in East Timor (INTERFET). Although
Australia has a relatively small Defence Force, it
is a Defence Force of well trained and disciplined
men and women. With Australia's ongoing success in
East Timor, Australia will be seen increasingly at
the front of any requirement for Defence intervention
with the Australian sphere of influence. |
